Kathy Emdonds was called to a singing ministry in 1996. She started as a soloist in her home church. In 1998 she began to sing lead in a local group named "New Beginnings" with her sister Lorie Howard and two other ladies from her church.
1999 brought an opportunity for Kathy to sing lead and harmony along side her dad Jim Jones, a guitarist, with a local bluegrass group "Gospel Generations". They used live instruments and traveled in the North Alabama area. While in this group she continued to sing occasionally as a soloist and with New Beginnings. This kept her quite busy.
September 21, 2000 the Lord woke her up at 3 am and told her to do a breast exam. When she did she found a lump. November 13, 2000 it was diagnosed as breast cancer. She under went surgery to remove the lump, chemotherapy, and radiation. All the while she kept on singing.
Labor Day weekend 2001 brought another change. She auditioned for the group "Sold Out", from Mississippi, and become the lead vocalist. They changed the name to "Still Blessed" in Feb. 2003. They traveled all over the southeast and as far west as Parachute, Colorado.
In Nov. 2006 she had surgery and took time off. While recuperating she decided that she would retire from Still Blessed, in order to spend more time with her husband, Craig, and their two daughters, Sarah then 15, and Savannah 12. But little did she know that in the spring of 2007 God was not finished with her. Offering her the way and means to go back to a solo ministry on a limited schedule.
Kathy and Craig recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.
